A pair of young siblings were found shot to death alongside their father in a Kansas City, Missouri, home that was later ravaged by an intense blaze.
A horrific scene unfolded on Thursday night at approximately 9:45 p.m., when officers went to conduct a welfare check on a home in the 1000 block of NW 91st Terrace.
Outside, before they entered, the officers reportedly smelled smoke, then saw it shortly after they entered the home. They quickly retreated, fleeing the scene as they waited for Kansas City Fire Department crews to arrive.
They were able to put the fire out, and officers reentered the home, where they found a young girl, 6, suffering from a gunshot wound. She was later pronounced dead at the scene. A boy, 8, was later found, also suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital and died there.
