Woman seriously injured after driving car through interstate construction zone

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A 63-year-old woman was seriously injured after she drove her car into a construction zone near KCI and through a hole in the interstate.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that just before 9:05 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, emergency crews were called to the area of northbound I-29 and Mexico City Ave., near the Kansas City International Airport, with reports of a single-vehicle crash.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a 63-year-old Platte City woman had been driving a 2016 Ford Flex north on the interstate when he traveled into a construction zone. She continued in the far right lane where crews recently removed part of the road, despite multiple warning signs…
