Kansas City, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri leaders may use more than $1 million to lure business owners to fill vacant storefronts ahead of the World Cup.
“The whole idea is how can we get our small businesses in position for the tourism that’s going to come with World Cup, and I think the best way to do that is putting them in place,” Nia Webster said.
“So, it’s a place-making initiative. We know there are a lot of vacant storefronts out here. We don’t have the data yet that we can potentially look at, but if you just drive around, you’ll see the vacancies.”
