FBI: Public’s help requested in second metro Tesla firebombing

LENEXA, Kan. (KCTV) – The FBI is asking for the public’s help to locate a suspect who ‘firebombed’ the Lenexa Tesla Collision Center off I-435 and Lackman Road.

According to a release from the agency, it happened around 1:00 a.m. on April 3. A video was released showing the incident. A car can be seen parked on the shoulder of I-435 just behind the collision center. Then, two Molotov cocktails are thrown into the parking lot, narrowly missing a Tesla vehicle parked near a fence.

The FBI is working on this case alongside the Lenexa Police Department and the ATF. The ATF is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case.

“This was a calculated attack that could have caused significant harm,” said ATF Kansas City Special Agent in Charge Bernard Hansen. “We’re working closely with our partners at the FBI and Lenexa Police to identify the individual responsible, and we need the public’s help. If you saw something or know something—even if it seems minor—now is the time to speak up.”
