Hundreds in Kansas City hold protest against ICE raids

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Hundreds gathered in downtown Kansas City Tuesday evening in solidarity with Los Angeles and against ICE raids and detention. Two groups, one beneath the Liberty Memorial and the other at the intersection of Southwest Blvd and Avenida Cesar E. Chavez, met up and marched in the Crossroads.

“I’m actually kind of happy that this is happening,” said Irene Castaneda. “I feel support and from people I didn’t believe would support us.”

Signs with strong messages like “hate won’t make us great”, “immigration built this nation”, and “hands off our neighbors” could be seen, along with American and Mexican flags. It was a peaceful protest for a cause that hit close to home for many…
