Man sues Kansas City gas station after shooting left him paralyzed

A man is suing a Kansas City gas station for negligence and premises liability after he was paralyzed in a shooting in 2024.

Tyrone E. Stewart III was at the Fast Stop convenience store at 5020 Blue Ridge Cutoff on Jan. 3. There, he was shot and severely injured. On Wednesday, he filed a lawsuit against the owner — Firnaz Convenience LLC — for $50,000 for allegedly failing to protect customers from known violence.

In the lawsuit, Stewart alleges Firnaz Convenience LLC knew about the violence in the area and should have taken steps to prevent the shooting, such as hiring a security guard, closing during dangerous hours and installing and maintaining surveillance cameras and proper lighting to deter crime…
