KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – J.R. Hoodstar is stepping up, not far from the neighborhood he grew up in, teaching boys basic tasks like how to change a tire with the goal of shifting their attention to productive and positive tasks.
Hoodstar said he was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, and sees himself in the group of young boys he mentors, and even his own three sons.
“Being one of these little boys in the community, I know how it is. Where we come from and what it takes to change it around. There’s a lot more trouble to get into than positive to,” he said. “So with me being through that, going through those stages, I know it. So, let me be the one to be the positive energy to give to the kids.”…
