Bill honoring slain Kansas City paramedic could increase penalties for attacking first responders

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The death of a Kansas City firefighter and paramedic could prompt harsher penalties for anyone who attacks a first responder.

A group of U.S. Senators, including U.S. Senators Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) and Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) introduced the Graham Hoffman Act Tuesday.

If passed it would categorize first responders as a protected group and make any assault on a first responder a federal crime…
