5,000 backpacks and more: Kansas City Public Schools prepares for the first day of classes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – On Saturday, more than 5,000 backpacks filled with supplies, free health screenings, and vaccines were available to Kansas City Public Schools families to prepare for the first day of school.

This event is organized by the KCPS Education Foundation, which has been hosting it since 2016.

Families lined up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at East High School to grab their backpacks, but also get assistance from community partners…
