Shawnee Mission students head back to class under updated cell phone policy

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – In February 2024, the Shawnee Mission School District officially updated its cell phone policy. The rules were implemented for just a few months, but on Monday, August 11, students will head back for their first day of school under the updated policy.

In a 6-1 decision, the Shawnee Mission School District Board of Education voted to change the district’s personal electronic device policy on January 13, 2024.
