Kansas City Mayor addresses Downtown public safety concerns with developers at event

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – City leaders said it’s important not to lose sight of what makes Kansas City its own, and addressed how they’re going to balance new development with safety.

Mayor Quinton Lucas addressed downtown developers’ questions earlier today at a lunch event at the Kansas City Public Library.

“It’s a balance of how do we make sure we’re growing in a dynamic way, but also addressing issues of public safety and homelessness in Kansas City,” he said. “They’re relational or they’re retaliatory. It’s gangland warfare going back and forth. It’s domestic partners that are harming others. It’s those sorts of things. And so, having a way that we can break that cycle is how Kansas City becomes safer long term.”…
