Calls for City to fix crime, sewage around Prospect Sun Fresh led to closure

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – City officials and community leaders held an emergency meeting Friday, a few days after the Prospect Ave. Sun Fresh closed, discussing next steps.

Councilwoman Melissa Robinson said the city invested approximately $17 million into the building’s infrastructure before Community Builders took over. She said this tackled demolishing the middle of the building, shelving, and mechanics, among other things.

As for how much money Community Builders, the former tenants, received from the city and the councilwoman said they only received $750K from the city in May of 2025…
