Weekend-long celebration of world cultures in Kansas City kicks off

A weekend-long festival celebrating all the cultures that have claimed a spot in Kansas City comes back to Swope Park on Friday, Aug. 15.

The Ethinic Enrichment Festival returns for its 46th year, the Ethnic Enrichment Commission of Kansas City said. It’s a part of the commission’s goals to continue promoting and preserving the different cultural backgrounds residents come from, celebrating diversity and strengthening the community.

Each day of the festival highlights more than 60 countries and cultures that will host booths, serve foods and drinks, and showcase their traditions on stage by the Swope Park Bandstand. Visitors can see traditional dances from countries like Colombia, Ethopia, Italy, Venezuela and Vietnam…
