KC man sentenced 37 months for machinegun conversion devices

A Kansas City, Missouri, resident has been sentenced in federal court for crimes involving machine guns and machine gun conversion devices, commonly known as “switches.”

On Sept. 9, 2025, U.S. District Judge Beth Phillips ordered 21-year-old Davorian M. Fleming to serve 37 months in federal prison. Fleming previously entered a guilty plea on April 3, 2025, admitting to possession and transfer of machine guns. Court records show that he acknowledged the conversion devices qualified as machine guns under federal law and that he assisted co-defendants in transferring the weapons.

Fleming is one of several individuals charged in the case. His co-defendant, 23-year-old K’Orion A. Duff, also of Kansas City, was sentenced earlier to 15 months in prison for distributing conversion devices. Two additional co-defendants remain scheduled for sentencing…
