National rankings from U.S. News & World Report and Forbes revealed the best colleges and high schools in the Kansas City area, and now a different ranking service gives parents with preteens a look at the top middle schools.
Niche, a school and neighborhood ranking service and data aggregator that pulls information from dozens of sources and reviews from current and former students, released its 2025 rankings for the best public middle schools in the Kansas City metro.
The rankings haven’t changed from 2024, as the top schools remain in Overland Park, and only one Missouri school make the top 10. Here is a closer look at the best middle schools in the Kansas City metro, and where other schools fall on the list.

The best middle school in the Kansas City area is Pleasant Ridge Middle School, according to Niche.
