Lawsuit claims man was hurt trying to help victims of Family Dollar building collapse

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A lawsuit filed Friday in Jackson County claims a Kansas City man suffered injuries and mental anguish helping victims when a Family Dollar collapsed in July.

Charles Ochlech is suing Family Dollar, the Arthur Fels Company and the Family Dollar Stores of Missouri for liability and negligence after a building collapse that killed a man.

The lawsuit alleges that Family Dollar knew the store was “unreasonably hazardous,” and said when the building collapsed, Ochlech attempted to help the victims, including 69-year-old Larry Banks, who died as a result of the incident…
