KC woman drove 97mph while passenger fired shots at police

A Kansas City woman and man remain in custody after they fled from police and fired at officers during a high-speed chase in late August.

Savannah Landers, 19, is charged with Aggravated Fleeing a Stop or Detention, 1st Degree Assault, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of Weapon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson today.

Cyvauodis D. Brewer, 36, is charged with 1st Degree Assault, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Aggravated Fleeing a Stop of Detention, Possession of a Controlled Substance. *

According to court records, an Independence, Mo. police officer attempted to stop a white Ford Escape for speeding in the area of Sterling Avenue and Lexington Avenue in Sugar Creek. The vehicle fled, reaching speeds up to 97 miles per hour and driving into oncoming traffic on Truman Road.
