Kansas City residents challenge new temporary jail proposal

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City residents filled a city Public Safety Committee meeting Tuesday, urging officials to reject plans for a temporary jail on a city-owned tow lot on Front Street.

“I’m so serious. This is no game. Please check your heart before you make these decisions and may God help you,” one resident told city leaders during public comment.

Kekeli Dawes, a Kansas City resident, expressed concerns that the proposal wasn’t properly planned. “I understand that a race to the bottom in terms of cost, a race to the bottom in terms of time, is not producing results,” Dawes said…
