Government shutdown leaves 17 Head Start locations at risk of closing in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — More than a dozen Head Start sites across the Kansas City metro are at risk of closing next month due to the ongoing government shutdown.

According to the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), 17 Head Start locations will close on Nov. 1 if the federal government does not reopen. These sites serve nearly 2,300 children and families, and employ nearly 400 early childhood educators.
