COOPER COUNTY, Mo – Two people from Kansas City are facing multiple charges in Cooper County following a traffic stop Sunday night.
According to a probable cause statement, a state trooper pulled over a car on Highway 5 driven by 43-year-old Nathan Lortie for failing to maintain their lane. During the stop Lortie admitted to being a convicted felon who had recently been released from federal prison.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a Ruger handgun that both Lortie and his passenger, 41-year-old Ashley Smokrovich claimed ownership of. Smokrovich was also found to be in possession of two baggies containing five grams of methamphetamine…
