KANSAS CITY — A Kansas City area teen is facing charges for bringing a loaded gun to a school.
On Tuesday, a Belton Police Department School Resource Officer received information regarding a student bringing a firearm to night courses, according to a media release from Belton Police. The school resource officer team developed a plan to stop the student before he could enter the Scott School, 310 S Scott Avenue, in Belton for his night classes.
At 4p.m., a School Resource Officer observed this student identified as 18-year-old Cameron Kopfer of Belton arriving at the school and heading toward the entrance. Officers stopped him without incident before he could enter the school, at which time he was detained for further investigation. The investigation revealed a loaded pistol in the student’s backpack…
