Photo shows ‘heavy fire and smoke’ engulfing east Kansas City apartment

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Crews were called to a vacant apartment complex on the east side of Kansas City after a fire was reported early Monday morning.

According to the Kansas City Fire Department, at about 3:25 a.m., crews arrived at the Parade Park Complex at 16th Street and Brooklyn Avenue for a heavy fire coming from the two-story structure.

KCFD immediately began fighting the fire by using multiple handlines inside.

The search of the complex eventually came back clear, and the fire was brought under control at 3:50 a.m…
