KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Downtown Market at 11th and Grand has been ordered to shut down within 10 days after facing code violations and having its lease revoked.
Kansas City cited numerous safety issues at the business. Police were called to the store 184 times over a two-year period for violence, drug activity and repeated disturbances. This includes a January shooting where police say a cashier shot a man in self-defense after the man tried to stab him.
Neighbors report ongoing problems
For some who live near the Downtown Market, what was supposed to be a convenient corner store has turned into what they call a hazard.
