WYANDOTTE COUNTY, Kan. — Wyandotte County has passed a new ordinance banning unlawful camping, replacing a harsher version that would have imposed $200 fines and month-long jail stays for sleeping outside.
The new ordinance gives first-time offenders 48 hours to move before facing 10 hours of community service and referral to social services. Repeat violations result in fines and jail time.
