Overland Park man pleads guilty to illegal machine gun possession

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – An Overland Park man pled guilty in federal court Thursday to an illegal gun possession charge.

Thirty-year-old Verdell D. Mays pled guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a machine gun.

Mays admitted in federal court to possessing a fully automatic pistol in June 2025. The pistol had a rear slide plate that was modified to produce automatic fire, court documents said…
