Independence water plant issue impacts Oak Grove schools, thousands of residents in county

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A water issue at an Independence water plant impacted thousands of people outside of the city.

The City of Independence Water Department serves 250,000 people, according to the utility. It serves people in Independence and 12 other areas and cities, according to a map on the utility’s website.

That includes Oak Grove, where city leaders issued a boil water advisory Monday morning as word about a water issue spread.
