KCPD, ATF investigate two-alarm lumberyard fire

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Firefighters responded early Tuesday to a two-alarm fire at a lumberyard at East 14th Terrace near Indiana Avenue and Truman Road.

Crews were called about 6:15 a.m. December 16 and found flames in an outbuilding at the lumberyard, Fire Chief Michael Hopkins said. The fire spread into some lumber stacks, prompting a second alarm and requests for additional water pumpers.

Eleven fire trucks and a pair of standby ambulances were on the scene as crews worked to contain the blaze.

The facility is in a mostly industrial area off Truman Road near a Wendy’s; no residential structures or other businesses were reported to be threatened…
