Kansas City Police Department unveils new, ‘modern-day’ uniform with color change

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Navy is the new French blue as the Kansas City Police Department shares its first uniform change since 1984.

In a release, KCPD said it has decided to change the material of its uniforms to a “lighter, four-way stretch material” that “repels fluid, breathes better, and has UV protection.” The feedback from members who tested the new material was “overwhelmingly positive.”

The only catch is that the new material cannot be produced in the department’s longstanding French blue color. Instead, KCPD will move forward with a darker navy blue…
