Concerns grow as flu cases rise across the Kansas City Metro

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The sudden rise in flu cases is reaching a concerning level in the Kansas City Metro.

The University of Kansas Health System reports seven times more flu patients than it did two weeks ago, since the virus is very contagious.

At Saint Luke’s Health System, medical staffers weren’t seeing as many Influenza A until after Thanksgiving. The flu is tricky, according to doctors there, since many patients don’t realize they’re sick and spreading the bug, even though symptoms don’t show up for another 24 hours after they’re infected…
