Gen Z ditches malls for vintage shopping in West Bottoms

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Generation Z shoppers are abandoning traditional retail stores in favor of vintage and second-hand shopping, with Kansas City’s West Bottoms district becoming a popular destination during the First Friday Weekend event that kicked off 2026.

The “Badda Bing, Badda Boom in the Bottoms” event runs January 2-4 as part of the Festival of the Full Moon: The Wolf Moon, featuring three days of vintage, antique and one-of-a-kind shopping in the historic district.
