KCPD issues 300+ tickets in hazardous driving crackdown after deadly year on area roads

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City Police Department issued 313 tickets as officers targeted hazardous drivers on Highway 71.

KCPD says officers issued the citations on Tuesday, Jan. 13, focusing on speeding and reckless driving – two factors that contributed to many of 2025’s fatal crashes.

According to department leaders, 68 individuals lost their lives on Kansas City roadways last year. That same year, more than 20,670 citations were issued for speeding and careless driving.

Law enforcement officials indicate that traffic enforcement will expand to other high-risk areas across the city in the coming weeks…
