Kansas City man gets 46 months for federal gun convictions

A Kansas City, Missouri, man has been sentenced in federal court following a conviction for illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

James Arthur Tatum, 35, received a 46-month federal prison sentence from U.S. District Judge Roseann A. Ketchmark after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. The sentence also includes three years of supervised release.

Court records show Tatum was contacted by a Columbia, Missouri, Police Department officer on June 8, 2024. Tatum was alone inside a vehicle when the officer checked his identification.
