KCK crews prepare for weekend snowstorm with reduced staff

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – Public works crews in Kansas City, Kansas are completing final preparations for a weekend snowstorm, with brine treatment of primary and secondary roads set to finish Friday evening before snowfall begins.

The pre-treatment work has been ongoing since Wednesday, focusing on the brine process across all major routes. Crews plan to begin plowing operations earlier than usual due to the extended duration of the storm.

“What we are actually doing this storm, because it is so long in duration, crews are going hit the ground and keep plowing until it’s through on Sunday so it’s a little different this time but we need it with all that snow,” said Dave Reno, KCK Public Works Public Information Officer. The snowplows typically do not go out until after snow event is complete.
