KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City has begun construction on a major stormwater management project designed to address flooding that has plagued the Westport area for more than a century.
The flooding issues date back to 1913, when Westport was built over Mill Creek. For 13 years, resident Larry Webb has watched storms turn streets into rivers.
The Westport Stormwater Improvements Project, organized by KC Water, includes building two reservoirs and a channel under Mill Street to re-route stormwater.
