Bowen Tower tenants win rent cuts, eviction dismissals after 4-month rent strike

RAYTOWN, Mo. (KCTV) – Bowen Tower tenants won rent reductions and dismissed evictions after a four-month rent strike that withheld more than $110,000 from their landlord.

Kansas City Tenants announced on Tuesday, Jan. 28, that striking tenants and landlord Alta/CGHS Real Estate signed an agreement ending the dispute. Rent payments will resume Feb. 1.

Union leaders say the deal secures 2-year leases, monthly savings of $90 to $150 per tenant, eviction protections and a schedule of major building repairs by March 2026…
