Surveillance video system exposes $1 Million methamphetamine operation

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Eight defendants have been sentenced in federal court for their roles in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine worth more than $1 million.

At a residence in Independence, officers discovered a large quantity of methamphetamine and a sophisticated surveillance video system that had been recording the interior of the home. When authorities obtained a warrant for the video system, it provided detailed evidence of the inner workings of the conspiracy.

William Lee Bailey, 38, who led the operation, received the stiffest sentence — 19 years in prison for his involvement in the drug conspiracy and an additional five years for possessing a firearm to further the trafficking scheme. He was also ordered to serve four years of supervised release…
