KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City councilman is forcefully pushing back against the possibility of a federal immigration detention facility coming to his district, and he’s far from alone.
Protesters spent much of the day taking to the streets to voice their opposition, holding three rallies across the city. One of those demonstrations was still ongoing as of this evening.
Protesters gathered near 12th Street and Walnut Street before moving from the park and marching through Downtown Kansas City, temporarily shutting down traffic as they made their way through the streets.
