Eight days before Josue Avila-Carcamo is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend in last weekend’s double homicide in Kansas City, Kansas, police arrested him on an outstanding domestic violence warrant.
Karl Oakman, police chief of the Kansas City Kansas Police Department, said that warrant stemmed from a 2024 incident involving the victim killed Saturday in the double homicide — his city’s first homicide of 2026. Earlier this week, police identified the victim, Avila-Carcamo’s ex-girlfriend, as Ingris Carolina Damas Morales, 20.
Though the shooting is still under investigation, Oakman said preliminary information shows that on that day, Avila-Carcamo, 43, “forces his way into the house and shoots and kills her.”…
