Amazon’s Prime Air Drones take flight in Kansas City metro

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – ‘Drone delivery’ is now an option. Amazon’s long-promised service has officially arrived in the Kansas City metro.

Prime Air, Amazon’s delivery service using FAA-approved electric drones, launched operations Monday, Feb. 9, from facilities adjacent to Amazon’s fulfillment center at 6925 Riverview Ave. in Kansas City, Kansas.

The drones deliver packages weighing up to 5 pounds within approximately a 7.5-mile radius of the facility during daylight hours. Prime members can access the service for $4.99 per delivery, while non-Prime customers pay $9.99.
