Wyandotte County streamlines short-term rental process, raises fines for violations

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – Leaders in Kansas City, Kansas, are making it easier for homeowners to turn their properties into short-term rentals during major events like the World Cup.

Wyandotte County commissioners approved the new requirements during a February 5 meeting. The change also includes new penalties for property owners who violate the law.

The new rules are active when an event is determined to be a “major event” by the county. That includes something that lasts less than 90 days and there are not enough hotel rooms for visitors…
