Kansas City’s springlike stretch is about to flip. Will snow crash the weekend?

Spring’s February visit to Kansas City is coming to an end, with just a couple more unusually warm days before cooler weather and a chance of light snow return this weekend.

Temperatures across the region will be in the mid-60s to low 70s, according to the National Weather Service. The metro is expected to see temperatures in the upper 60s, well above the average of 45 degrees for mid-February in Kansas City.

So far this month, it ranks as the second-warmest February in Kansas City’s 138 years of weather records. The average temperature for the period through Feb. 17 is 44.1 degrees this year. The warmest was in 1954, with an average temperature of 45.2 degrees for the same period…
