KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Wayne Garrett, the beloved pitmaster behind Arthur Bryant’s legendary barbecue, has died after 28 years of dedicated service.

Arthur Bryant’s, one of Kansas City’s most iconic restaurants, announced Garrett’s passing on Wednesday, Feb. 25, calling him a cornerstone of the restaurant he helped define for decades.

Long before customers arrived, restaurant leaders say Garrett was already at work – firing the pits before dawn, preparing the ribs, briskets and pork butts that made Arthur Bryant’s a destination for generations of guests.

His reach extended far beyond the kitchen, according to the restaurant. Garrett represented Arthur Bryant’s on the national stage – appearing at the NFL Draft and during Chiefs playoff weekends…
