KC electrical union says offer to restore Western Auto sign for free rejected by HOA

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) — The Western Auto sign has been off for seven months, a Kansas City electrical union says it offered to fix it for free and was rejected.

A symbol of Kansas City

The Western Auto sign has lit up the Kansas City skyline since 1952. The IBEW Local 124 worked on the initial sign when it was first installed. The union was first established in Kansas City in 1892.

“We thought it would be a perfect fit and a perfect partnership,” said IBEW Local 124 Business Manager, Bo Moreno.
