Rockhurst, Lee’s Summit survive semifinal scares to meet in District 6 Championship

The top two seeds have punched their tickets to the Class 6, District 6 championship game, but neither the Rockhurst Hawklets nor the Lee’s Summit Tigers had an easy path to get there.

Rockhurst survived an early upset scare against Summit Christian Academy, 52-35, while the Tigers had to overcome an 11-point halftime deficit to claim a 56-49 victory over rival Lee’s Summit North.

In the first semifinal, Rockhurst struggled offensively, taking a 10-9 lead after the first quarter. The Hawklets’ advantage was just 20-16 at the half, but a 9-0 run to open the second half gave Rockhurst a double-digit lead it would not relinquish. Summit Christian finished the season at 19-9.
