WATCH: Power flashes in KC from Friday severe storms

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Strong and severe storms moved through the Kansas City metro late Friday night.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Kansas City, Merriam, Shawnee, and Roeland Park at 11:36 p.m. on Friday. This sounded emergency phone alerts across Jackson, Johnson and Wyandotte counties. FOX4 Meteorologists Joe Lauria and Jacob Lanier tracked the storm live on air as it moved across the state line.
