Kansas City shooting leads to 11-year term for felon with gun

A Kansas City, Missouri, man who fired a gun at another individual has been sentenced in federal court after being convicted of illegally possessing a firearm and possessing methamphetamine.

Clifford E. Porter, 40, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Greg Kays to 11 years in federal prison without parole. Porter previously pleaded guilty on Sept. 11, 2025, to being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine.

The case stems from an incident on July 1, 2025, when a detective with the Kansas City Police Department observed a man riding a bicycle in the roadway along Spruce Avenue in Kansas City.
