North Kansas City Fire Department mourns loss of 29-year-old firefighter

NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The North Kansas City Fire Department is grieving the sudden death of one of its own.

Firefighter Benoit Coussement, 29, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, March 11, the department confirmed. No cause of death has been released.

Department leaders note that Coussement joined NKCFD in July 2024 and was working toward becoming a paramedic – just months away from graduating paramedic school this July.

“Benoit will be remembered for his commitment to the fire service and the positive impact he had on those around him,” an NKCFD spokesperson said…
