LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (KCTV) – A Lee’s Summit police officer was treated for minor injuries after being hurt while trying to arrest a suspected shoplifter Saturday afternoon outside a Best Buy.
Officers were called around 3:45 p.m., March 14, to the store in the 1600 block of Northwest Chipman Road, at I-470 and 50 Highway, after a report of a shoplifter. Police said a woman had reportedly stolen several items at Target before driving to Best Buy. Officers were given descriptions of the suspect and her vehicle.
An officer found the woman as she walked out of Best Buy and tried to detain her, but she ignored commands and got into her vehicle. As the officer continued trying to arrest her, the woman started the car, put it in reverse, and backed up at a high speed…
