Lee’s Summit police officer dragged by vehicle, injured in shoplifting response

A Lee’s Summit police officer suffered minor injuries after he was dragged by a vehicle while he was attempting to make an arrest in the Summit Woods Crossing development on Saturday, police said.

The officer was taken to a local hospital, treated for his injuries and released, the Lee’s Summit Police Department said.

Police were called to the shopping development on Northwest Chipman Road around 3:45 p.m. Saturday after a loss prevention officer at Target reported that a woman entered the store, allegedly stole several items and then drove over to Best Buy, police said.
