Kansas City moves to ban small liquor bottles as store owners warn of ‘slippery slope’

A new proposed law could ban the sale of small alcohol bottles in one state. The law has been proposed for high-crime areas in Kansas City, Missouri, and would ban the sale of liquor in containers smaller than seven ounces.

This would include half-pints and mini-bottles. Single-serve beer sales will also be affected by the law, as containers smaller than 40 ounces will be banned if it passes.

Shop owners in Kansas City are warning that the law could have disastrous consequences, forcing many of them to shutter their stores. A store owner told KCTV5 that “the restrictions could force him out of business.”
